Introduction: DEEKSHA: A Bi-Annual Peer-Reviewed Journal currently overseen by the Department of Social Work, has been a vital platform for disseminating knowledge and publishing quality research articles. The journal's journey began in 2002, rooted in the commitment to education and social welfare that defines our institution.
Founding and Early Mission (2002)
The inception of DEEKSHA can be traced back to March 15, 2002, when the first seminar of the MSW department on "Girl Child" was inaugurated. It was during this event that the journal was named “DEEKSHA" a symbolic representation of the department's commitment to child welfare.
Highlights of the Peer-Reviewed Journal DEEKSHA:
Ø Inception (March 2002): The MSW Department released its first journal, titled DEEKSHA, in honor of the adopted child during the department’s inaugural seminar.
Ø Transition to Bi-Annual Publication (2010): DEEKSHA was restructured as a Bi- Annual Peer-Reviewed Journal to broaden its academic contribution.
Ø ISSN Number (2012): The journal was officially recognized with the ISSN number 2250-3919, marking a significant milestone in its development.
Ø UGC Approval (2015-16): DEEKSHA gained recognition as a UGC-approved journal, enhancing its academic credibility.
Ø Bi- Annual Peer-Reviewed Journal (2021 onwards): The journal transitioned to an annual publication format, focusing on quality and impact.
The latest issue, Volume 22 (June 2024–May 2025), continues the journal’s tradition of promoting scholarly research and academic excellence in social work and allied disciplines. The issue has been revised in accordance with the guidelines of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.) and adheres to the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines for academic publications.
